Maxine Cain Presents - A Facebook Live COVID Conversation relative to the impacts of COVID-19 on Women!
Please join me on Wednesday, May 20th at 12:00 noon as I share insights relative to why our voice matters. #stematlantawomen
Across every sphere, from health to the economy, security to social protection, the impacts of COVID-19 are exacerbated for women and girls simply by virtue of their sex:
COVID-19 is not only a challenge for global health systems but also a test of our human
spirit. Recovery must lead to a more equal world that is more resilient to future crises.
Fiscal stimulus packages and emergency measures to address public health gaps have been put in place in many countries to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19.
It is crucial that all national responses place women and girls - their inclusion, representation, rights, social and economic outcomes, equality and protection - at their
center if they are to have the necessary impacts.
This is not just about rectifying long-standing inequalities but also about building a more just and resilient world. It is in the interests of not only women and girls but also boys and men.
Women will be the hardest hit by this pandemic but they will also be the backbone of recovery in communities. Every policy response that recognizes this will be more impactful for it.

The #1 question I receive from business professionals and entrepreneurs is how did I singularly grow my organization with a vast amount of reach, a platform for success, and an actively engaged community so quickly? STEM Atlanta Women was founded only two short years ago and has established credible visibility and an audience reach comparable to organizations that have been in existence for longer than 10 years. The answer lies in cultivating the powerful network of LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is fast becoming one of the most powerful ways to grow your business.

STEM Atlanta Women Quarterly Workshop Series!
Meet our Keynote Speaker! Shan Thomas
Shan Thomas operates a digital marketing agency specializing in helping women in leadership who have a mission, vision, and purpose create amazing credible visibility in their industry so that they can better impact the world.
She holds a master's degree in business science/management and has worked in the corporate world for over 20 years in various executive positions.
Her knowledge of innovative technology, business, marketing, and relationships is what distinguishes her from anyone else in her field.
Shan will discuss why it’s so important to encourage more women to go into STEM fields. "In a country in which the average women still earn 77 cents for every dollar that a man earns, and in a country in which the majority of single parents are single mothers, getting more women into STEM could both reduce the gender wage gap and ensure that single mothers don’t have to struggle to put food on the table. Not only are there currently more jobs in STEM than in any other industry, but most of these high-tech jobs are high-paying, as well. According to the National Council for Women and Information Technology, there will be around 1.4 million computer specialist job openings expected in the U.S. by 2020. Women have the capability to hold 50 percent of those jobs. Yet, in order to get to the point where women earn fifty percent of STEM degrees and hold fifty percent of STEM jobs, we need to start at the very beginning."
