Dr. Maxine Cain is an influential figure in the tech industry, known for her dynamic leadership and commitment to fostering inclusivity, innovation, and education. As the Founder & CEO of STEM Atlanta Women, Inc. and Mathis, Griffin, Cain, LLC, she is at the forefront of transforming the landscape for women and underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).


With a rich background in business management and human resource management from the University of Phoenix, Dr. Cain brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her ventures. Her extensive professional journey and impact in the field demonstrate her expertise and dedication.


Dr. Cain holds a Doctor of Humane Letters for her significant contributions to humanitarianism in STEM education and training. Her leadership in STEM Atlanta Women, Inc. emphasizes enlightenment, education, and empowerment, striving to bridge the gender gap in technology.


Dr. Cain champions the integration of digital labor, strategic management, and emerging technologies, shaping the future of work and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the tech industry.


Recognized for her exemplary community service with awards such as the Biden President's Lifetime Achievement Award and the Georgia Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award, Dr. Cain continues to inspire and influence the tech industry towards a more inclusive and innovative future.

Our Story: From Empowering Girls to Igniting Every Mind

Our Roots

Founded by Atlanta native and tech visionary Dr. Maxine Cain, STEM Atlanta began with a mission to empower women and girls in underrepresented communities through transformative STEM education. With a foundation built on innovation, career exploration, and real-world learning, our programs—from tech labs and master classes to hackathons and entrepreneurship training—have helped pave the way for a more inclusive STEM workforce.


Maxine’s background in human resources and technology helped shape a unique, interdisciplinary approach. Rather than teaching science, technology, engineering, and math as isolated subjects, we integrated them into a hands-on, applied learning experience that inspired curiosity and creativity.

While we remain incredibly proud of our legacy, the world is changing—and so are we.


In response to strong feedback from parents, educators, and school leaders, we made the bold decision to expand our reach and impact. STEM Atlanta now welcomes all aspiring innovators—girls, boys, and nonbinary youth—ensuring that every curious mind has access to the tools, mentorship, and opportunities to succeed in STEM.
