National Sports Analytics Program Where Sports Meet Data Science! Sponsored By Nike
Program Description
STEM Atlanta Women, Inc. has launched the National Sports Analytics Program, a comprehensive initiative that combines data science with sports, targeting high school students nationwide. Set to begin on October 7, 2024, the program is presented in partnership with The Sports Analytics Club Program (SACP) and sponsored by Nike. Participants will gain hands-on experience with data analytics through sports-themed projects, guided by STEM educators, university faculty, and professional sports data scientists from major organizations like MLB, NBA, and ESPN.
Objectives:
Develop Data Science Skills: Equip students with foundational data analytics skills applicable across sports and STEM fields.
Target Outcomes:
- Skill Acquisition: 85% of participants will demonstrate proficiency in data analysis and visualization by completing hands-on projects.Diversity and Inclusion: The program aims for 60% of participants to be from underrepresented groups, including women and minoritiesIncreased Interest in STEM Careers: Post-program surveys will indicate that 75% of students express interest in pursuing data science or related STEM careers

Nike's Annual Hack to Play Summer Hackathon – “The Future of Youth Sports”
Program Description
This three-day hackathon, hosted by Nike in partnership with STEM Atlanta Women, engages rising 6th to 8th graders in a dynamic exploration of technology’s role in sports. Held from June 12th to 14th, 2024, the event brings together youth, Nike’s Social & Community Impact team, and Global Technology mentors to develop tech-based solutions that address community challenges through sport.
Objectives:
- Skill Development: Enhance participants' skills in ideation, app development, teamwork, and presentation.Promote Social Responsibility: Use technology to explore sports as a medium for community impact.Career Pathway Exploration: Expose students to tech and sports careers through hands-on mentorship.
Target Outcomes:

This in-store activation event, held at the Nike Unite Retail Store at Atlantic Station, celebrated the innovation behind Nike Air Max technology while providing young scholars with an engaging STEM experience. Participants explored Nike's air technology, learned about its application in sportswear, and created personal terrariums to understand ecological science.
Objectives:
- Promote STEM Literacy: Offer hands-on activities that demonstrate the intersection of technology and sports innovation.
- Foster Creativity and Sustainability Awareness: Engage participants in creating self-sustaining terrariums, highlighting ecological principles.
